Renosterbos qualifying WP race

 

 

 

 

The sixth Renosterbos Mountain Bike Challenge will be held on Saturday, 6 September at Barrydale.

 

 

 

The 71 km route is an important event on the mountain bike calendar, because it is the only qualifying race for Western Province colours this year. Other options include: our new 50km challenge, a shorter route of 20 km, a trail run of 13 km and a fun ride for children.

 

 

 

The single track route has all the elements that make it one of the most scenic rides on offer. Vegetation varies from renosterbos and a wide variety of Karoo succulents in the lowlands to fynbos in the foothills of the Langeberg. Besides klipspringer, steenbuck and duiker, participants may see kudu.

 

 

 

According to the organisers, riders will encounter water and shale on the course. Enough water and other refreshments will be served along the route, and everyone who finishes the race will receive a medal.

 

 

 

The race provides the ideal family outing, with Barrydale Wine Cellar serving as the centre of activities. The day will kick off with a hearty breakfast prepared by our local lady’s. There will also be a kids’ corner with entertainment and a 3 km fun ride for children. For those who want to stay over, numerous accommodation options are available.

 

 

 

To enter for one of the routes, go to www.renosterbos.co.za. Registration and late entries will take place from 07:00 on the morning of the race. More details are available on our website.

 

 

 

· Registration for the race will take place from 7:00 at Barrydale Wine Cellar. Distances: 71 km (R170), 50 km (R150), 20 km ( R80) and 13 km trail run (R100). All races start at 08:30 at the Cellar. Cost of 3 km fun race for children: R25

Dankie vir al die Renosterbos organiseerders vir 'n onvergeetlike dag soos altyd! Goeie en mooi roetes en goeie organisering!! Sien volgende jaar!!

Ja dit was definitief n lekker race en baie lekker dag ook gewees, ons het klaar gemaak net toe die wind begin waai het, baie bly gewees ek hoef nie meer as 5km teen die wind te gedoen het nie. Volgende jaar weer terug!

Baie Lekker roete gewees, behalwe vir die verkeerde afdraai vroeg in die 71km was alles baie goed, goeie waterpunte en lekker uitdagende roete. Sien jule volgende jaar weer...
