  1. I bet this could have been communicated a week ago already...
  2. If someone were to seriously injure themselves on the now unrideable trail, in the woods, with all this mud and water rushing everywhere, a medic will have a very slim chance of reaching him and provide emergency medical attention.
  3. A friend of mine finished yesterday. But as a second time finisher he was quite disgusted at the Cape Epic organisers for the disregard for rider safety on stage 6. On stage 7 at the top of Botmanskop he passed a rider laying on the ground that supposedly had a heart attack, with a blanket covering him......
  4. Can't they look for new routes in new areas. The cape epic is losing relevance if they are continuing with this.
  5. Any Reviews on the Marvel Cadence and speed sensor from CWC/cycle lab? https://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/marvel-speed-and-cadence-sensor
  6. Any Suggestions on protecting my new Rondo Ruut CF frame. I've heard something about Ceramic coatings being done. A company that Alan Hatherly is involved in. Anyone know of this? Otherwise recommendations....
  7. I see Garmin's servers are down since yesterday. Hopefully they get it sorted come tonight 12pm :|
  8. Done it a few times. Last time we did the TT was in December 2015. Recently Franna from Manic Cycles organized a few night rides as well.
  9. Quite like the merino stuff from PedalED, a Japanese brand. https://pedaled.com/eu_en/#gref They have some solid reviews and the clothing looks impressive as well. if only our Rand was stronger and we can get them locally....
  10. Looking to replace my XO1 Eagle cassette soon due to wear. The sunrace mz1x looks like a solid replacement. Any Thoughts? Reviews?
  11. Any suggestions on a road bike rental for the Coronation Double Century? Carbon 10/11speed - 105 or better.
  12. Great news, thanks for all the feedback. Now to only get a XT/XTR derailleur on sale
  13. So my XO Derailleur got busted this weekend and replacing it with a new expensive own does not excite me, at all. After digging to the ends of the internet for other solutions, I came across a quite a few posts and videos of XTR/XT derailleurs used with a Sram cassette and even a Eagle Shifter. This kinda excites me a bit, because an XT 12speed derailleur is significantly cheaper than a XO Eagle Derailleur. Any hubbers with some advise, experience or money to share on my dilemma?
  14. Great advice. I am a farmer myself and share the same view on cyclists. Usually not a problem. In this case i would like to make contact with the landowners. Spoke to Andrew White from Greyton. He will speak to the landowner on my behalf but if you have the contact details I will appreciate it. We are doing a bike pack trip Worcester -> Mcgregor->Greyton->Worcester Rusty climb is for sure going to be the main obstacle of the trip.
  15. Any one know if the Rusty gate climb over from Helderstroom is open to the public. Plan on doing a bike packing trip and would like to get to Villiersdorp without touching a big part of the tar road. Advise will be much appriciated Regards
  16. Also visited the area this weekend. Hopped on the red route Saturday morning. A massive variety of trails and scenery. It is surely one of the hidden gems of the WC in terms of MTB trails. 4 routes that suits everyone’s skills and fitness.
  17. I must say, it is unbeatable value. For me looking at a gravel bike, things like ride comfort etc. also comes into play. If not it will be stupid to not consider the Titan. Would love to see a comparison of the 2.
  18. While the current models offers a lot of value, I think waiting for the 2020 models with GRX group sets will probably be even better. Given that it will spec Gravel specific components. Any thoughts?
  19. The world of gravel biking/bikepacking has interested me for a while now and will probably lead to me buying one. The Revolt range from Giant looks to me like the best my money can buy. After doing some reading on the net I can't seem to find a South African Opinion/Review and would like to get some feedback from someone who owns one. The Pro's and Cons, what to keep in mind and other bikes with more value for my money.
  20. Also interested in this for 2020.... Anyone that did it recently?
  21. Is it just me, or is there more entries available on classifieds than previous years? Seems as if an Epic entry has lost it's kick. Any Thoughts?
  22. Hi. I have a '17 Scott spark 910 and I have exactly the same experience as you. My shock and fork has been to Omnico about 5 times. Every time they claim they worked on it and solved the problem. Even saying it is the result of poor maintenance. I have a very considerate LBS and the have gone to extreme lengths to solve it without any success. I believe Scott and Fox is aware of the problem but not effort has been made from their side to solve the problem. This is really a a pity, because it is such a nice bike.
  23. For sure. My partner used the USN stuff to train with, with the water points in mind. He spent considerably less time at water points than me. I just can't bear the taste of the USN stuff and the Pepropro proved itself on all the races in preparation. Not to sweet, also no aftertaste. Same with the Enduran bars. Food at the WP is excellent though, just eat our of the corners of the baskets, where no sweaty gloves touched before you. Last few tips. Don't take yourself to seriously. You will make it!! Train enough, sleep enough, make your training interesting. Try new trails. Have a few beers. Put in the hours and don't be one of those serious d#%! that shouts at everyone. The 4 months before the race with all my friends training and suffering together is what I miss the most.
