MTB cross training on table mountain [i am an MTB n00b]

Hello everyone

I am an avid ultimate frisbee player in the midst of pre-season training.

That may sound completely bonkers until you step on an ultimate field and realise that the sport demands the highest levels of fitness and mental fortitude...!

Now, my shins are killing me (too much running down table mountain), thus the dire need to cross train.

I've ridden bikes my whole life, so i know how to peddle, jump curbs, look-no-hands, and not oil a chain... however i still very much consider myself an MTB n00b.

I need a used bike that goes for under R2500 to get started sprinting up table mountain on a bike. Where should i look? For what should i look? I'm in the dark and in need of assistance.

I'm 169cm tall, weight just under 70 kilos, and don't know where to post this, so its going under chit chat.

Thanks!

Jon

so what do you peddle? spare parts, body parts, tik, crack, kittens.. what?!?!

Sounds like you need a 2nd hand hardtail, size small, with a fork that has a lock-out. Have you trawled the classifieds yet? But i think you need to upsize your budget abit.

how about this unit for R4500?

Then this cheapo for R2500

or this for R5000

or this short travel dual suspension for R6000
