Yesterday I fitted my bike with Dura Ace 7800 components. Everything works super smooth ,but about 5km's into my ride this morning the front deraileur won't shift from the big chain ring unto the small one.

No click sound from the shifter nothing. Does this mean the deraileur is stripped or is something else amiss? There is still tention on the cable going to the front deraileur Confused

P.S No comments like you should have fitted Campag Smile

i'm no mechanic, but i'll give it a try.

3 parts that cause it to happen. the deraileur, the shifter and the cable.

most front derailurs are just about bomp-proof, except if something obvious is wrong(like a broken spring)  quickest check : disconnect the deraileur. the deraileur is under tension to go to the small chainring, if it doesnt go back on its own if disconnected, it is broken. check if you can manually shift the deraileur by hand. if it does, it is the cable or the shifter

check if the shifter shifts. (it does not at this stage, if it shifts, but feel scratchy, it might be a frayed cable. shift back and forth, and pull the cable back by hand. if the cable slides back freely, you will need to check the shifter. The indexing and shifting is dependant on the shifter. it it doesnt go back, most likely a broken shifter(but it can also be a really bad frayed cable)

most likely the front deraileur is still working perfectly, it is still pulling against the cable.
