help with powertap setup

I recently purchased a powertap, i have a garmin 500, which when i do the set up picks up the powertap etc, but when i ride its not picking up any readings, where do you think the problem may be?

Did you purchase new or 2nd hand.?

Faulty torque tube perhaps.

May be best to get the wheel/hub to the agents.

I bought it 2nd hand and it worked for about a month! and now to show off my total ignorance I_BMC... replace the bateries in my garmin? or does the powertap also have batteries

The powertap also have batteries. In most cases you would need a special tool to open the thing up.

I should really get with the program of training with a power meter… but can anybody tell me what it would cost to have "any power meter" on my bike ? Im unsure what they start on really ?

and the batteries are different depending on which generation hub it is. which one is it? if its small and black its the newer which takes cr2032 batteries but if its the older one then its not the most common battery and might take a bit more time to find.

older : elite+,pro+

newer: g3,g3c

 

so far as i know they've stopped making the pro+ now but depends how old yours is..

 

its unusual for it to register on the garmin every time and then not work. does it work at all even for a few seconds? if it does then def suggests battery.

the battery is a normal CR2032
