Say i've put sludge into a set of road tubes and i want to put those tyres on other Wheels. whats the story with deflating the tubes to remove the tyre from the rim? can it be done? is it messy? is the sludge still effective afterwards? fandacious2008-02-22 08:39:20

I usually leave the wheel in the 11 or 1 'o clock position for a minute [to get the slime away from the valve] then deflate. Some of the slime will squirt out, but it's not THAT messy. Remember to press the valve in FULLY [i.e. a lot of air escapes quickly]. You don't want the sludge to set in the valve stem.

Fandacious, why are you using it in road tubes?

What youcan do is leave the wheel with the valve at 6 o'clock for all the slime to leave the valve. The slowly turn the wheel so that the slime move to the bottom. Let it stand with the valve at the top and then deflate a bit at a time.
