And this part here:

On my frame I have noticed on the inner none drive side the wheel hub end is wearing into the frame slightly, something I would expect maybe happening on the drive side or if I had loose skewers, which I don't. What could be causing that?

The best method:

If it snaps off, it was too tight.

 

 

Seen this happening just before races. Guy in short sleeve muscle shirt, buldging biceps and popping veins......wheels must be thight so QR must do its job. It is when you hear that short, muffled bwah that you know he is not riding anymore. Skewer snapped in half, all for the image.
