Anything specific one needs to know as to opening it up? What tools is needed etc?

I used oil I got from a motorbike shop, can't remember the specification, but if you Google you will find what weight & volume to use. You'll need a shock pump as well. It can get a bit messy....

 

Otherwise, take it to droo, it should be an easy job for them to do and they can check the condition of the seals, etc.
