Hi everyone. I have heard so many conflicting stories. Is it true that only certain tubeless mtb tyres go with certain mtb wheels? Heard about problems getting them on/off. Leaking problems.

I have a set of deore xt wheels. Are there any tyres I should stay away from?

Thanks for the insight. Much appreciated!

Yea stay away from 26er tyres, they are old news.

Ok seriously...

You get many different types of tyres.

Wire beaded

Protection

Tubeless Ready (Non UST)

Snakeskin

Tubeless (UST)

If you have a 26er get UST Tubeless tires.

If you have a 29er, get Snakeskin or Protection. The UST options in 29er is pretty limited to Maxxis, the other brands claim their UST 29er versions would be to heavy.

There are like a gazillion threads on here about tires, just do a search.

Brand choice boils down to your own riding style, personal preference and what you inted to use the tyre for mainly ... muddy, dry, rocky, sandy, also do you require light or durable?

Search ....

Thanks Tankman. I do run tubeless - monorail front, rubena scylla rear. The monorail has done 3500+km's. The rear picked up a 2cm cut across the width of the tyre. Have to replace both, or maybe only the front... Is it possible to patch a cut from the inside? The cut hasn't gone through - just enough to have a slow leak. The scylla is still in very good condition.

I just heard the Vredesteins are difficult to get on, Bontragers doesn't seal properly on certain wheels, crossmark is heavy, conti's are way too expensive...
