Best place for timing chip?

I fitted my timing chip as directed to my front wheel, but lost it in the 99er when a rider lightly crashed into me - he came from the side and hit my fork.

 

Getting a new one, and just want to know where is a better place to put the chip?

I velcro strap mine to my ankle, never had an issue but I see some guys fit it with cable ties to their bike with a bit of rubber between the chip and frame.

You can fit it to your shoe as well on your velcro straps.

Yep, thats how mine is on my bike... right at the bottom of the fork at the wheel axle.

 

I then had some highly intelligent woman after the 94,7 tell me I need it closer to the ground still because my chip didnt read at the finish line and I was without a time.

I told her it cant get closer to the ground than my fork at the wheel axle, she then said put it on your foot, so I said to her and what if when I go over the timing mat that foot is at the top of its stroke, its then further away form the floor...

The chip fits perfectly on the front strap of my shoe and so far no problems.
