Morning road ride for new Capetonian

Hey all,

Just moved back from Sydney, Aus and keen to get back on the bike. Managed to borrow a great roadie from a friend.

Was doing about 150km a week at about 25/30km an hour. Keen to ride on weekday mornings and weekend.

I'm living in Woodstock and I'm wanting to do the Woodstock cycle way to blouberg. Is it safe? Any other suggestions?

Welcome back, how was the cycling in oz? I'm not close to you, but I joined up with cycle lab and have met some good ride mates. If you short of someone to ride with, its an option.

Right . Thanks for the replies guys. Aus cycling is good in parts but also very narrows roads. There is an absolute Mecca of cycling in the national parks about 40 mins drive out of Sydney.

I feel like we may have a few more violent people on the roads here but our cycleway is definitely up there.

So cycle lab u recommend? What about city cyclists or something? Any other clubs u recommend?

I may do a sea point to Hout Bay tomorrow.

Also road from ladies mile to Fishhoek Hout Bay, town and back...

Hi James, I'm also pretty new after last owning a bike about 14 years ago. Also in Pinelands. Olympic Cycles River Club are wanting to set up a ride club, but for now I'm riding around alone or with a friend who also just recently got his bike. Let me know if you want to join up for an evening ride on weekdays :)

Please let us know what happens re. this idea. I also live close by and got a bit skittish to ride alone because of all the muggings.
