They advertise that the cleat is SPD compatible, so thats why it look like the Shamino cleat.

 

Ah, I think we may have tracked down your problem, maybe you're using cheap knock-off Shamino cleats instead of the real Shimano models? ;)

Yip, silly of me to buy the cheep stuff. Ends up costing more in the long run....

So I tried sanding a bit more of the treads away. This did not help.

 

Went back to the shop. Got a pair of Shamino PD-M520. Much better. Chalk and cheese.

 

In other words, the Ryder pedals are just really crap.

I have a set of those in the garage. I'm keeping them for when I need to throw something hard at someone.

 

Thought the same as you, best of both worlds, foot kept popping out at the worst of times and actually had a very hard bail in the parking lot at fratelli's because it would not release.

 

Absolute crap.
