Anyone been looking into this unit and have anything to share?

I've been looking at it as a multisport unit.

DC Rainmaker seems to think it's pretty slick, but was looking for more opinions before I get one sent over via my mate who's going to be visiting from the USA.

If nothing else, it looks BOSS...

Am I missing anything?

I've always thought of it as more of a mountaineering / adventure racing style watch.

Depends on how you define multisport - If you mean triathlon i.e swimming ,cycling ,running you may be better off with something like a 310xt / 910xt. Maybe look at something like a Suunto Ambit 2 as well.

That Fenix does look the business though!

It seems to have taken most of the good stuff from the 910XT and the 620.

Garmin and DC Rainmaker seem to recon it's a bit of a combination of all and a vast improvement over the original one. One thing that appeals to me over the 910XT is that it can be worn as a watch. Much of the intricate training detail that it appears to lack is beyond my level of analysis.

Just feels like a too good to be true thing where you're getting more than you need in one package?

This new Fenix 2 looks brilliant. It has all the multisport features that watches like the Suunto Ambit 2/910xt has with the new running features from the new Forerunner 620.

I agree the first Fenix was more of a mountaineering watch, but they seemed to have changed focus with this new one.

Wonder when this will land in SA?

the gps would make it illegal for Adventure Racing, but it looks handy for everything else outdoors
