Looks like we have some serious rain on the way for the first 4 days.

Stage 1 just got interesting and I need to get some extra break pads and a sense of humour!

Hey, there seems to be a few conflicting weather reports, just checked windguru again and according to them Sunday in Durbanville is dry with showers on Monday and rain missing Robertson until Wednesday.

Being Cape Town you can never be sure of the weather until you look up :-)

When this was first mentioned earlier in the week the weather models were very unpredictable, as we approach the weather event, they become more certain, hence the "will it?, wont it?" scenarios up until now.

It is now fairly certain it will rain and probably quite a lot - and then there is a chance it will actually rain a significant amount, ie we are looking at the potential of a developing cut off low.

All I would say is be prepared as best you can to make it more pleasant. The last three events (W2W2011? - last day cancelled, Epic 2012, W2W2013 ride) saw a bit of persistent rain and the hub was full of posts like "apocalyptic, unrideable, withdrew" etc.

After all your months of prep, please don't let that happen: prepare for the worst, get your head sorted that you may be riding in the rain for 8 hours and then go out and enjoy it as the sun will shine for the most of the race.

yr.no is saying **** monday, loads of rain monday night and into tues morn but dry from tues midday onwards. i think the strip of thing (or whatever its called) they've introduced will be put to good use if you are starting in cold wet conditions. honestly, the weather is the most intimidating bit to me just now.. sunday i can deal with but cold wet for 8 hours on mon? bleugh. the least we can hope is that it will be 20+ deg as predicted by yr.no on mon. thatl make it less ****.
