Santa Cruz 5010 27.5" as a Marathon MTB?

Any comments on this new frame from Santa Cruz?

Actually a trail bike but might just be fit for marathon racing.

Fork would be limited to 120mm travel.

It used to be called the Solo. Been around for a year.

I would ride marathons with it, but it will be a bit slower than a dedicated race type bike. But every non marathon ride will give you more smiles if you give it a bit of stick.

It is a bit on the heavy side but I dont mind. It is those "other" rides that would make the difference.

 

I'm currently riding a Superlight with 650B wheels. very satisfied with it and handles like a dream.

The 5010 is an awesome bike and you won't regret it.

I use my Tallboy LTC for marathon and did Epic on it. It has got 140 mm travel. My XL weighs 12kg. No issues at all. Go for it
