Hi Everyone

So I can't find many reviews on the higher spec suntour forks. Specifically the axon and possibly epicon.

( I am considering them for my dream of a pyga one ten) There are a couple of reviews but not compared to a search for any of the other brands including x fusion.

So how do you feel?

Anyone with any first hand experience?

Their website is informative and they certainly seem good on paper, obviously the prices are what's temping! Xfusion also tempting but not when price is the same as a revelation.

I do however have a niggling in the back of my mind that you get what you pay for. Just hopping these are an exception? Any advice?

Also any opinions on going more than 120mm on the oneten, my riding is more xc biased than trail.

Cheers

A friend is riding an Epicon and is very impressed. For the price (around R3000 for the model with the Remote Lockout and without the low speed compression adjuster) he said he will hardly look at another option (he used to have a Rockshox in the past, but not sure what model). The Epicon have adjustable travel for 80/100/120 via the internal spacers.

I'm kind of in the same boat. Starting a 29er HT project and decided to get the Epicon rather than Reba purely because of the massive cost savings (even though the Reba is about 200g lighter).

I think the Axon is in a different class compared to the Epicon. Lots of top European teams are running these forks (Cape Epic and XCO World Cup), so I would suspect that they are brilliant and probably on the expensive side (having Carbon lowers and all).

Keep us posted on what you get for your Pyga.

I have a Epicon, bought it a couple of years ago and it lives on my 26 HT. Works fine and is (on mine anyway) adjustable from 80-100-120 to 140mm. Its done many thousands of K's and never had a problem.

Easy enough to service yourself as well. I am not sure on the new ones but on the old one to adjust the travel there is a small pin you need to gently tap out and place in another hole. RS has plastic spacers.

If I didnt have to muck about finding an adapter for the steerer and one for the 15mm QR on my wheel, I would have this on my Trance over the Fox F32 that it was sold with.
