Considering 2014 Bela Bela Triathlon...

I did the 5150 Bela Bela last year.

 

Swim

 

If you want to walk you can walk. I swam and I was one of the first age groupers out the water. No triathlete past me walking in the water believe me.

 

Cycle

 

Greta cycle route and quite tough. I did not experience any MTB's on the wrong side of the road. Cyclists were separated and i did not ever have to fight past a cyclist coming up the hill when i was going down it. Full road closure would be nice this year but i didnt have any problem with vehicles coming past. It is a quite road. Midlands Ultra route is way more dodgy with the cars coming past.

 

Run

 

Flat and hot. Loads of support through the camp site.

 

Organisation

 

Excellent ! Just what you expect from an Ironman supported race.

 

Travel

 

I drove up on the day and drove back. Not a mission and not to far either. I am going to camp or stay in a Chalet this year though and make a weekend out of it.

 

Overall

 

Great race and great to kick start the season!

The swim puts me off this event.

Trained a lot in the pool for last years event, only to keep swimming into people that had chosen to walk the swim.

Bike route is fairly tough, but enjoyable, and the run is hot and flat through the campsites.

All in all, a well organised event, albeit a little expensive.

Im IN! I have registered and paid! This will be my first Triathlon! I hope its a good start to something bigger!
