Mountainbikers in training in Pretoria / Centurion

I'm looking for someone who is training with his mountainbike on and offroad and will also wellcome a partner especially on saturdays. I'm working on it to get fit and healthy and would like to get in contact with similar minded guy.

Hi, what time do you cycle in the mornings. What distance do you do and at what pace. Also Wht distance do feel like doing during the weekend?

You can always go and join the Cyclelab MTB group on Saturday mornings from 7 AM in the winter and 6 AM in the summer, where I think most people start. You don't have to pay to ride, its for free. There are 3 groups. Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. You will also get to know people that loves what you do.

 

I also started there and made a lot of friends that know more routes that you can think of.

Ok to start with before I get flamed, I said 'I find' the ride better for the following reasons

1. the road groups tend to get too big and difficult to control I have seen too many close shaves

2. the mtb groups ride towards smuts house where I feel unsafe along the railway line, too many hijackings in the area

 

Cycle max is way more relaxed, hard but fun,

Another option:

After seeing his third bicycle accident in town, my son came up with the idea of providing a safe parking place on our secure plot (an old farm school) for those who want to START their rides on the relative tranquility of the Boschkop road (Pretoria East). We have identified routes from 10, 22, 32, 45, 50, 72 kms to over a 100 kms that can be used by road and / or MTB, in the surrounding areas. As very social riders, we have not been able to confirm the longer routes - we would need explorers to help there! We have just opened on Saturdays and Sundays from 07:00 to 12:00.

 

Maybe you can use this as a meeting point to start some of your cycles? (although it looks as though we may have to open earlier... )
