Contact Sheldon Bole, he is quite involved in the Pilditch scene. On facebook there is a intro to track cycling being hosted by the Pilditch group. That is where I learnt to ride! What fun!

I did that intro with Sheldon some years back. It was advertised here on the hub. Had so much fun, that I bought a track bike the following Monday! Didn't get into racing as planned, although I still have the bike.

Pilditch is crazy steep! But being shorter was a fun place to learn.

If you can ride Pilditch, then you can ride any track anywhere, even the hectic 333m russian track. This track has a bit of a bmx feel, due to the bumps, but it is short and fast.

I also like Hector Norris, because it is a little less intimidating.

Say hello to Jezza if you go to HNP tomorrow. He's a good lad. Even gave me a lift to the train station in the cold this morning.

Kkkkkkkkkkeeeeeeeeeeppppppp warm, Cargyrl!

How did Jeremy's comrades go?

He finished with about four minutes to go. Which is brilliant for his first Comrades combined with the fact that he was carrying a injury going into it!

Did the Learn to Track Ride with coach George at Pilditch today. Friendly and helpful bunch. Hooked me up with a loan bike. Just brought my own pedals and kit (thx Zeffer). Experience was sensational. Pedaling felt so weird. And NO Brakes !! NO coasting!! Pilditch has hectic banks. Progressed well today. Up to 32kph pace lining. I think I can get hooked to this. Thx Cargyrl and TMonster. I found my track home.

Anybody in Cape Town that rides track?  Where is it done? Classes?

I know of the velodrome next to tiger-valley, but not sure what's next. Or where else since the velodrome is set for demolishing.

Speak to Jaco Scholtz from Trackcyclingsa, find him on FB, he will be able to provide you with all the info, such a riding the wall, intro to track cycling etc.

Allrounder, the development around the Velodrome has been on and off for years, none of the proposals that I have seen included demolition of the velodrome, and there are still leases in place with two cycling clubs. However access to the velodrome during development of the surrounding area may be a problem, and usage of the facility after development would be reduced/limited. The Paarl track is still in regular use and is the only viable alternative at this stage, its an easier track to ride, especially for anyone new to track.
