Easton ec70 stem torque

Hi, on my road bike I use a ec70 stem and a ec90 bar. The face plate of the stem has a 2 bolt configuration. I have no slip issues but in the last 2 months my face plate has come loose. Loose as in from solid to almost falls off in 100 m. Torque correctly to 5nm, no damage to the stem and bolt thread. Is my torque setting to low?

I think 5nm is what's on the stem, I set mine to 6nm, might not sound like much but its 20% extra which is a lot.

 

make sure the bar is bar and stem surface is free from dirt and grime

 

I used a paste almost like copper slip but for carbon its a motorex produc.

I use carbon paste. Will try a higher torque setting. Thanks

Carbon assembly compound, and a little locktite.

 

Hope you sort this issue.

 

Important, clean the contact surfaces well before assembly

There appears to be a fine line between too tight and too loose. I recently hopped a speed-hump and had my bars slide into a "very aggressive" downward position as they were too loose.

Loctite on, carbon paste ready. Let's see if it works.
