Sorry for the late response MK

last year we had just over 300 entries and we are expecting a small increase this year.. it is a bit concerning that there are less and less sprint off road events taking place which of course are the feeder races for the ultra events

Really looking forward to this event,

First triathlon, although I've got a bit of duathlons under the belt the swim is new, so just going try and stick it out and then do some serious work on the cycling and running legs.

The running leg, if anyone has done the Afriman or any duathlon at Babbas lodge, how does the running leg compare to that of Rockman?

The running leg is different to last year so I think that Faceplant would be best to comment as he is the race organizer.

This is my first time doing a triathlon, albeit a sprint one!

Now a question I rarely ask... what do I wear!?!

It really depends on what you feel comfortable with, but firstly make sure you have good tri shorts. I am partial to 2XU but it is very much a personal choice. Personally prefer shorts and separate top. Also Tri suits can do, but make sure that you have raced in it before . I have lately seen some guys race in their cycle tops , which saves the shoulders from the sun and I am considering as tri tops are sometimes a bit on the denser side and does not breathe as well . Definitely wear a visor on the run. If you have not raced without socks then rather wear socks, the 30 seconds to pop the socks on is well worth it in a long run-(Pun Intended).    Wear Sunscreen and I mean proper Sunscreen, I use Piz Buin 50+ Waterproof, learnt that from a swimmer chick.

Quick one, the cycle leg, will it be 2 laps of the Second loop? The loop that takes a Sharp right.  Has anyone done the route, is the markers well place or is there any sections that one needs to pay some attention?

Bospiet, the route is well marked but as per any race you need to pay attention to the markers. the although the route is a double lap for the ultra event it is a different route from last year with alot less mud
