Durbanville... need to get back on my bike

Hi,

I did an Argus a few years back, loved it, and then left the Cycling scene.

I now have some time back on my hands, I bought my Argus ticket, and time to train. My problem, I used to train out in Robertson. Tons of riding to be done out there. Now, in Durbanville, I haven't riden more than 2 times. I need somebody to ride with, to show me the routes and rules of the area.

So, any groups or somebody to cycle with in the Durbanville area?

Thanks in advance :) Let's get to it!!

There are 2 Threads on this forum - one is for Dville Mtb rides and one for Dville road rides. I'm not very good at Linking these things but Wannabe is very active on both - and a nice guy to boot :)

Are you a member of the Tygerberg mtb club? They have some great trails- Meerendal you could ride alone if you had no one to ride with. Plus if you are on FB there are a couple of Mtb groups you can join and ppl announce rides on them.

Hope this helps a bit - will see about adding those links for you

Hi, what distances are you looking to ride, MTB and road?

Well, not too fit at the moment. I guess I should be ok to start with a 20km road, and about 10 / 15 km mtb?

I would like to get back into the full swing. Decent distances. So, I wouldn't mind over reaching. I need to go hard.

Well, Weekdays are good. After 17h00 no problem. Weekends are generally available.

Both my bikes haven't been ridden in ages. So, I wouldn't mind any surface. Gotta get in the swing of things.

My last event entered was last year's Buffet Olive MTB in Paarl somewhere. Did the 35km, and walked most of the uphills. (That should give a rough idea to my current fitness level.)

I would love to get into good shape for the Argus. I want a decent time..

Going out back Dville roads tomorrow morn on MTB - need to go at 6am the latest but can go earlier. Doing a LSD 35km loop no more than 2 hours at a rustig pace. PM me if you keen to join

Sry.. missed that one. I am more free in the afternoons. I head out @ 06h00 in the mornings to work.

Still, keep me in the loop please! I am good to go whenever. As long as the pace stays rustig :) And obviously the timing works..
