  1. Clocked 61522km on my Spez Tarmac 2006 and currently 96928km on my Spez Venge 2016, so keep on pedalling until you hear snap, crackle and pop if you have a carbon frame😁
  2. Jip, rode an integrated handlebar and stem for about two years and loved it. All was good until I hit a car at 45kph and it cracked. Ordered another one but there was a problem with the shipping so the order never arrived. If you are in Cape Town try Theuns Goosen (Kean Bikes), he use to import their products.
  3. Logged a request for replacement online on 3 July 2023 under warranty/loyalty policy. They shipped from Japan and I received it on 29 July 2023.
  4. Got this on one of our whatsapp groups. Dont have anymore info. Just that it happened today. "Hi all, just a heads up... we were 2 cyclists gunpointed today at about 1pm at Kayamandi outside Stellenbosch. Road was busy with traffic in both directions and it didnt bother them. Luckily only a cellphone taken. It happens faster than you think. Be vigilant and take care out there."
  5. If you tension the spokes incorrectly with your diy effort, you're right back where you started.
  6. I would suggest replacing the spokes as well seeing that they are in any event going to have to rebuild the wheel. I replaced my rear wheel's nipples with brass and now the spokes are breaking one by one. Aparently because they were tensioned before the nipples were replaced, so just do both and you will save yourself alot of fustration and money in the long run.
  7. On the 820 the name, speed and distance is on the previous screen where all your active grouptrack connections are listed. On the display map itself only the initials of your connections are shown.
  8. I use an 820edge and on the grouptrack screen you can zoom in if you hold the screen for a second or two, then a +and- appears. Press + to zoom in and - to zoom out. Don't know if this helps you with your problem
  9. Jip the one I have is da bomb???? I dont want to know what those attackers went through after I sprayed them, but I'm sure they will think twice next time if that orange can comes out????????????
  10. Jip its clear, just be alert as you approach for any characters that might be after your bike????
  11. Jip gearing into the right gear beforehand is important, with the adrenalin rush from the attack you might even get the KOM????
  12. Being alert is the thing, dont take anything as being a coincidence???? Prepare even if it might not be people looking to attack you, but if something does happen your ready. Cycling past Kayamandi these days I take out my pepperspray everytime I am about a kilometer from the hotspot and I even show them I have it in my hand????
  13. It is the orange one that can reach up to 5metres if you hold the trigger in for a couple of seconds, but yes the wind was pumping so I guess it was inevitable that I would get some. At least it helped me to get well clear of them unscathed????????
  14. Man I didn't bother to look around to see whats going on???? I suppose I was in flight mode and was just thinking of getting away. Btw the wiff that caught me was enough to disorientate me temporary for half a minute or so, so they must have had it far worse than me as I emptied a half a can on them????????
  15. Point taken, but you never really know whether its going to happen or not until it happens???? I've been riding that road for years with no problems, so I probably convinced myself that I was being abit "too alert" and it was just coincedental that they walked that way.But never the less preparred myself if something did happen???? lesson learned again, I guess????
  16. Northern suburbs cyclist be alert, I had an attempted robbery/bikejack incident on Waburg road, Joostenbergvlakte yesterday at around 16h40. I cycle the road alot but is always aware of people walking along the road and pay specific attention to their behavior once they spot me approaching. Yesterday I spotted 3 people walking along the road towards me, still about 800m ahead. One walking down the centre of the road and the other 2 on the outer edges on both sides. Immediately alarm bells rang as a couple of years ago along Sandringham road next to the railway track, I was involved in an incident where the same thing happened. I immediately prepared myself to be attacked taking out my pepperspray and chosing a comfortable gear to excelerate in. As I got nearer the one walking in the middle of the road joined the one on the left hand side of the road and they where now walking 2 abreast towards me. The one on the right had outer edge of the road was walking a couple of meters ahead of them, leaving me about a 2 metre gap in between them to pass through. I then new the attacked was going to happen. About 5 metres from them, the one on the right tried to distract me by waving and greeting me. The next minute one of the two on the left came for me. I then peppersprayed him and the other guy to the left solid while accelerating. In the process I emptied half of the full can of pepperspray I had. Unfortunately due to the windy conditions also got some pepperspray fumes in my face. 300m further after making certain that the attackers were well gone, I had to stop as I could hardly see through my eyes. Fortunately I had a nearly full water bottle and started rinsing my eyes with water- no rubbing. After about 10 minutes I could open my eyes again and rode home and jumped in the pool. Hel the stuff is potent. Burning on my skin continued at least for another hour or so. But yes, not a hand layed on me during the ordeal for which I would like to thank my Heavenly Farther for His protection. I gave alot of detail so that should you be unfortunate to go through the same situation, you will be able to recognise the modus operandi of these thuggs and prepare in advance. And btw just a tip, ride with the pepperspray in your hand and your finger om the trigger because there's no time to take it out once the attack happens. Be safe out there guys!
  17. Duct tape and it should be fine????
  18. He paid and left forever. The proof is in the pudding as they say. R750 paid for an item that costs R90 at Dragons. Their labour must be really expensive????
  19. They ripped off my boet. They had to replace a front derailer plate on a Giant TCR and a bottle cage rivnut. After a week the rivnut was not replaced yet. He then went and collected the bike and was charged R750.00 for the replacement of the front derailer plate. Checked on the the Dragons website and the plate costs R90.00. So yes, Marc you won't be seeing any of our cycling group at your shop soon. You won the fight but lost the war.
  20. Sorry to hear, not nice going through something like this! I know how it feels from first hand experience. Glad however that you are alright????
  21. I am getting older so I prefer the 52/36 and 11-28 cassette setup on my road bike. The 28 is just here in case I hit one of those steep climbs.
  22. I hope that thread was deleted, I am still having nightmares...was it a 40 pager
