  1. Read through this and see for yourself how often Kayamandi is mentioned. Then tell me how this makes you feel- https://forum.bikehub.co.za/topic/32361-cape-town-danger-areas/?do=getNewComment
  2. I don't know, that's the only info I got from our whatsapp group😉
  3. Today Im part of the statistics, got Bike-jacked on a road I and all of us thought to be safe. Riding down towards Stellenbosch on the DevonValley Road, about 2 km from JC le Roux, a Taxi pushed me off the road, whereafter 3 guys, 2 Africans and a Coloured got out, the Coloured approached me wielding a knife. As much as wanted to resist, I unfortunately didn’t stand a chance. I’m fortunate to only have suffered a small cut on my finger from slapping the knife away. From Brackenfell cycling group
  4. Wheelsets | Dark Horse Wheels | Quality Carbon Wheels I've been riding a set of 65mm (front & rear) since Dec 2020. I'm a 100kg rider and have done more than 70,000km (mostly road and some gravel) on them since then, no problems. Good value for money👍
  5. From the Stellies Cycling Safety whatsapp group 👋 For what it's worth... didn't think I'd ever be the one posting this, but I was bikejacked outside Cloetesville R44/Fir Street heading into Stellenbosch at around 9:30 this morning. Thankfully, no injuries. 3 young coloured guys ran at me with a big knife. There was no ways I was going to get past them, tried turning around but they were onto me in a flash. I essentially threw my bike to the ground, fearing my life, unfortunately my phone fell out my back pocket. So they got away with that too. A kind lady witnessed it all and drove me to the Cloetesville Police Station. Opened a case, etc. Another couple who also witnessed it actually followed the guys and gave us the approximate streets. Life360, which my wife and I have, had an exact location. SAPS went to the location with law enforcement, but nothing came of it yet. Sad.

  7. From a whatsapp group- "Vriend van my was vanoggend aangeval by Kayamandi deur 5 K/Mans Hy is vol gate gesteek met messe en sy fiets is geroof.Kyk asb uit ons glo hul gaan probeer verkoop. Hy is oraait en uit hospitaal"
  8. Sorry but unfortunately thats all I have. I also assumed that its the Kayamandi stretch that is referred to where the incident happened😉
  9. From a cycling whatsapp group- WARNING: Hello all, friendly note to urge you all to never take the Bottelary route to Stellies. We were two people on a tandem, with many other cyclists passing us from both directions at 10am on a Sunday. There was heavy traffic on the road at that time as well. Six men walked into the road with very long knives. They stopped us and robbed us of our bike, garmins and phone. They were gone before anyone stopped to help. The Cloetesville police was amazing and managed to get our tandem back yesterday. This has been my fourth attack on a bike. There is nothing one can do...no use escalating the situation unless one is physically attacked. Ah, please make sure all the stuff on your bike is itemized on your Insurance...especially if you upgrade your garmin. 🤦🏻‍♂️
  10. *alert* This happened this afternoon today around 3:30pm
  11. Just checked we passed there 9h45😉
  12. @Walter van der WathAfter some thought I think your attack happened after our incident otherwise we would have definately seen you there after the attack😉
  13. Oh no, sorry to hear🤪🙈 we actually turned around and invited them for a "chat" but they ran away...cowards😡 there were definately only 2 when we were attacked, 3rd guy might have been nursing his injuries by then as a result of the bakkie hit😉 glad youre alive🙏🙏🙏 sorry about the bike but that can at least be replaced🤪👍
