2013 CYCLING ACCIDENT DATA - Cape Town

According to recent statistics received from the City of Cape Town there were 746 cycling accidents reported to the SAPS in the Cape Town area during 2013.

 

Most of the accidents were caused by vehicles traveling on a straight road; some were making u turns, turning right and swerving to avoid an object and head/ rear end hits.

 

Six cyclists died and 32 were seriously injured.

 

Accident hotspots included Bottelary Road, Strandfontein Road, Vanguard Drive, Victoria Road, Prince George Drive, Landsdowne and Voortrekker Roads.

 

Still way too many, be safe out there.

I cant comment about the others, but lansdowne road is mos likely muggings, and prince george drive are probably accidents. I see every weekend how guys ride 2 and 3 abreast down there
