Life Span of our bottles

So here's the deal, Like i'm sure most of you have, I have a cupboard full of cycling bottles of which most of them I never paid for (purple hollard etc). Now I usually race with the same bottles but while training I just take any bottle. I was doing a clean up this weekend and discovered some of the older bottles had a nasty smell to them. Made me wonder if these things have a life span, I hear so much about plastic nowadays not being so healthy for us.

I always wash my bottles in the dishwasher and they always get stored with the lids off. Anyway i'm not so keen to use these bottles anymore as I have so many so was wondering if some less fortunate people could make use of them BUT only if they still safe to do so. Would hate to donate bottles that are time ex.

Any suggestions?

Once I notice any kind of smell I chuck them into the recycle bin(not deemed safe for human use in my opinion)! Got my "collection" down to roughly 10 bottles this way:-)

Don't every wash bottles in dishwasher, the temperature is to high and damages the plastic (google it )

Just clean them with WARM water and soap or Miltons.
