Lebanon Trails

One of my favourite places to ride. It's got a bit of everything. More on the technical side of things, so don't expect manicured Oak Valley trails. Some ups, some downs, and lots of single track.

Sounds great, thanks.

Affects how? If you mean "can you feel the wind blowing?", then I think the Western Cape is the wrong place for you. There will be windy spots, there will be quiet, protected spots. I don't think the wind is going to affect your enjoyment of the trails.

So we rode Lebanon yesterday. First disappointment was finding the gates to the trail locked. At both ends. I could not find any signs saying that there was no riding on Sundays so I assume it was an oversight. If so, poor on the part of the trail owners. Not cool to have to climb barbed wire at the end of a tiring ride.

On the positive side, it was a great ride and those damned uphills never seemed to end. Just as I thought we were at the end, voila, another climb!  Some of the single track was a bit gnarly and some of the trails weren't clearly marked. We did the Red route and took 4 hours! Is this normal?

4 hrs sounds about right.. we done the green route last month, got lost due to poor markings and eventually found the N2 at 1pm. So an estimated 1hr 20min green route journey turned into a dehydrated 3hr death route. Still fun though :)

Comforting to know we aren't all that slow. Don't get me wrong - we had a great time but if you want to stop anywhere and take it in, you're going to be home late. As a matter of interest, we got lost and ended up next to a minor (tarred) road but I don't think it was the N2. Are you supposed to get close to it? I saw quoted somewhere that it is a total 0f 560m climb. Sure didn't feel like it. Not only the legs were complaining. (Note to self: Must harden up).
