Mc Gregor

I'm going up to Mc Gregor for Christmas (my folks live there) and I'm going to be taking my mountain bike up with me.  

Does anyone know of some nice trails to ride around there?  Ideally I'd prefer to just cycle from the house and not drive anywhere, and I'd also rather not be cruising around on some guys farm if he doesn't want me there!

 

Any input or ideas will be appreciated!

Lots of public dirt roads, through the hills, towards Bonnievale side... Don't know of any trails.

Hi

My folks live out there and there aren't many options im afraid.

 

1. There's a decent climb out the back of McG, but that's an up and down route as it runs out into a nature reserve at the top.

 

2. There's a loop around the Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve, which is on the road into McG, about 3km before the town.

 

3. There's a made up lap, up to Lord's, back down, across town, alongside the river, back into town.

 

There's lots of little pathways and dirt roads to explore - let me know if you come up with something!

 

Watch out for snakes, and it gets chuffing hot in summer. I've experienced 45deg often (we once saw 52deg) with absolutely no wind.

Sunscreen and more water than you think is the way to go.
