Me again, still busy looking for the perfect bike :-)

Had a Juliana Juno demo bike over the weekend and although 45, starting out MTB and not planning on actually RACING down the hills I loved it. Very COMFORTABLE, maybe a bit slow up the Jonkershook hills (but that could have also been a lack of fitness) and I can't say anything bad about it. Anybody out there that has experiences with this bike? What are your thoughts on doing longer, x-country flat track kind of riding with this bike?

I see that your budget has doubled

Awesome looking bike

I know - terrible this money thing... will have to hang in there then for another month without a bike. But it was REALLY nice... but now I fear me and hubby will be part of the group "cool bikes/little riding skills"... ja well, life is too short!

And it least I figured 650b is right for me, 29 would not make me look nice going around the corners downhill, I don't think so...

If you're planning on doing "flatter", XCM style riding, why not also consider a hardtail. For your new budget you could get one hell of a hardtail, which would spec-for-spec beat out the Juliana.

My money is still on Giant.  Lust for more racing and flatter courses and the Intrigue for huge amounts of fun and lots of confidence down the steeper descents around your are area.  Nothing wrong with the SC except is a boutique brand which means you get a little less bang for your buck. Sort of more show and less go for the same amount of money.

The Giants also have a very good rear suspension system which you can set and forget, especially good if you start of in mountain biking.  Less levers to flick and more concentrating on your riding. A similar concept to the Giant will be in the more expensive SC Juliana Furtado.
