Thanks droo....

I see the pin[emoji4] [emoji4] ......no way to remove the pin. Hmmm that's interesting.

Seems the difference between 2.0 and 2.1.. clutch could be serviced in 2.0 but in 2.1 Sram made it harder for users to so this... haha

uhm, my hardtail has 2.1 my trance 2.0... i can't tell the difference... you thinking too hard. don't lose sleep over it, for the way you ride fit a chainguide keep the chain and cassette in good working order, and be done with crappy shifting and dropped chains...

I adjusted my GX type 2.1 clutch mechanism.

I never had a type 2, went straight from shimano clutch to a GX type 2.1 clutch RD.

I started having more noise on the chain and was pretty sure my rd clutch wasn't working as hard as it should. I read the clutch was not serviceable so I went back to the shop for a warranty claim. 3 weeks later I get told its working as it should, take it back. Fine.

I still wasn't happy though and I felt like knowing how it works so pulled it apart.

That little pin pressed into the side of the cage - I punched that out from the inside of the barrel. I released the bolt holding jockey cage. Springs flew.

I discovered how it works.

There is a nice cone wedge that you can compress by screwing the barrel in or out, so I adjusted it. Suddenly I have friction again!

Bliss. My clutch is working.

Took some fiddling to reassemble. I used some blue Loctite to keep things in place.

My barrel ended up about 3/4 of a turn deeper than where that little pin wanted it to be, no wonder there was no friction.
