Silverback or Merida?

Looking at getting one of these and cannot make up my mind: pls help...

 

Silverback Slade 1 - R12300

 

Merida Big 7 XT Edition - R11000

 

Which one is the better bike or any other suggestions at that price point?

Silverback has Shadow + RD, bonus.

Get the bike you like the looks of because they both have good components and both proven and popular brands. SB slightly ahead, better RD and fork, but more $$. My 2c.

Can you test ride the bikes?

Silverback, just for the fork.

We own both in the 29er format. Both brilliant with no issues. I prefer the meridas looks and wife prefers the silverback. Silverback slightly better value for money.

Silverback, but owning two I might be biased.

Don't like on Silverback:

1. Older Deore Triple Crankset (compared to XT on Merida)

2. Bar-mount shifters (compared to i-spec on Merida)

 

Don't like on Merida

1. M475 Hubs (compared to SLX/Deore on Silverback)

2. Fork (Same model but straight steerer and QR compared to Taper steerer and 15mm TA and Silverback)

 

I'm also biased towards the Silverback, just disappointed in the crankset.
