Warren911 Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Good day Time for a new chain, my bike has got a KMC 10 speed chain.How do you know what chains can replace it?Can you use any 10 speed chain?Such as :SRAM PC 1031 10 speed.SRAM PC 1071 10 speed.Shimano XT HG95.Shimano Deore HG 54. Thanks
Featherbrew Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Any 10 speed mtb chain will work fine. You will need a chain breaker to "cut" the new chain to the correct length. Your LBS will be able to help.

When the one on the bike gets dirty, I put the other one on and that gives me time to clean and lube the dirty one properly. The clean chain then goes on the shelf. This also increases the life of your drive system substantially. The chain is the fastest wearing part, and if you have two (or even three) in rotation, the wear to the chain rings and cassette is reduced.
