Yes that is what I mean . Cyclists Think .

I have been meaning to write this post for a long time but reading elsewhere on this forum about another cyclist been killed thought now is the time to write .

What I intend saying has no bearing on the above incident , the only link between that and this link is our safety on the roads .

I frequently drive to work at dawn . The nr of cyclists cycling at that time on the roads with black kit amazes me .

Guys will have megalights on the front and no or a feeble light at the back .

Saw 3 guys cycling out of Durbanville abreast , yes in the yellow line , with the guy on the right hand side riding on the yellow line . His kit was black . The difference in seeing him and the guy next to him with a white shirt in the misty conditions is enormous .

Drove up to Jonkershoek for a ride there . Those that dont know , it is a narrow and winding road . There is a cycling path next to the road . But the road is full of cyclists . No one on the cycling path . Not cool to cycle on the path I suppose everyone afraid for being mistaken for a tourist . Does that bicycle under the Touareg look cool ?

Went over Vissershok this morning . In the car . Saw many cyclists weaving up there . I know it is a good hill but do you really HAVE to cycle there ?

And so I can carry on .

Like many hubbers I was fortunate to cycle in Europe a few times . Unfortunately the culture in this country is not conducive to cycle on the roads .

Motorists dont recognise us hence the slogan Think Cyclist .

But we must think as well .

May we have a safe year of cycling . Do your part .
