  1. As was suggested by a hub member in another post I am posting a link to my project in Prince Albert . Since the video was made about a year ago the number of bikes in use has increased to about 35 . Despite all my efforts and talks the kids are hard on the bikes but then most of the bikes are old hand me downs or built up from old stuff. 5 Of the older more responsible boys are allowed to take “ their “ bikes home but the rest stay at the shop and are allocated when we do group rides. I can be contacted at 0833959038 or arno@princealbertcycles.co.za . https://youtu.be/ccLHIHNRRe4
  2. No haven’t seen them hope to do so tomorrow at registration or hopefully they will need some chain lube before Saturday 😇
  3. With that steed you will be passing some gravel bike pushers the last 3 km of the Swartberg Pass to Die Top
  4. Have a look at the Topstone 2 . special deals on them. Nice 2 x groupset hydraulic brakes great geometry
  5. Male 76 years 1.78 84 kg Medium Cannondale Topstone Medium Scalpel shoes size 9
  6. I am busy then sorry 😇
  7. John Swanepoel of Karoorak has a trailer that can take about 30 bikes. He is at MtbAfrica . He designed his trailer not sure who build it
  8. Just my experience on old vs new after owning and running a tiny shop in the sticks for 8 years. If you are visiting, touring through or doing Freedom Challenge and is using older tech we make plans to keep you going if having a mechanical. If on electronics you wait for the courier to deliver.
  9. Not sure what you are looking for ? you say no bikepacking but want a bike that can carry weight? I have build a touring bike for a customer from scratch so if you are more specific I may be able to offer a few tips
  10. In my humble view a gravel being bike being more road bike than mtb 2 x is the solution . I find the GRX 46/30 with 11-34 on my Topstone perfect . 2 x 10 being as inexpensive as bicycle parts can get
  11. Don’t move to Prince Albert allready too many people here to my liking 😇
  12. Were you on a Revolt ? Saw you on Saturday morning riding back to town
  13. No . No tracks . We just ride the dirt roads . We have a local who is trying to build a track between running a guest house and a restaurant. The rest of us are old geezers who are just trying to stay upright.
  14. Thank you enjoying all the feedback and views.
  15. As someone who started the wonderful life of being a cyclist some 36 years ago and obviously then on a road bike my passion for road bikes and road riding still exceeds the one for mountain bikes. First forced to switch to mountain biking for road safety reasons when I lived in cities and now because of where I live I find the looks of a combination of the two ( gravel bikes ) very sexy . So browsing through the adds for gravel bikes this morning just looking ..I have one .. and seeing the number of really nice gravel bikes for sale made me wonder why are these bikes for sale . Are guys upgrading or disillusioned with what they found riding gravel riding to be ? Looking forward to some responses. Arno
  16. I still don’t understand that move of his and am a fan of him
