BaltazarMarques Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Morning Hubbers... I've been going back and forth deciding whether or not to get a bleed kit to bleed the brakes on my bikes myself instead of taking them to the store - Running SRAM Guide (Haven't needed to bleed them yet, but no doubt will do in the future) and Avid Juicy's (Which need it every now and then which I take it to the LBS for). WRT the Alligator Universal Bleed Kit, I've read conflicting reports/reviews, some say it's good, but more reports/reviews say it's not good at all, especially with Avid brakes. Does anyone have personal experience with the Alligator Universal Bleed kit and would you recommend it or should I spend the extra R200 and go for the Avid Pro Brake Bleed Kit? Or... Any other suggestions like making a kit up myself? Just looks like a few syringes and plastic tubes, but the clamps may be a bit more tricky!? Cheers...
JXV Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Get the Avid kit. It has the little brass inserts that screw in and should also have the spacer blocks so you can do it properly. Do you really want to take shortcuts with brakes? BaltazarMarques 1

It's a good kit to have around so worth getting the real deal I suppose.
David Marshall Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 It is the clamps that are the real issue. You can get far better syringes from your vet and screw in connectors from drip irrigation systems work. As to the real thing it just depends on how often you are going to use it
