Hi Guys,

Just want to hear some feedback on the RECM 200 Stage race from riders that has done it.  Doing my first one this year.  have done multi day but no more than 2 days, and not further than 55km.  Still have a bit of training to do until then.

Some single track insight?  Tips or trick- except for praying that it wont rain.

EXCITED!!!

Hi Elaine

I really enjoyed the Knysna200. You get to ride much more of the Knysna forests than you would at the Knysna Festival minus the big crowds.

The vibe is very relaxed and the routes weren't particularly tough, I think their emphasis was more on creating a lekker race than a tough race. (But it's still 3 days of cycling so don't take it too easy on the training  :whistling: )

Singletrack - I actually expected a bit more but there are a few fast & flowy singletrack sections, nothing really technical (although what is considered technical is a matter of opinion)

There is not a "traditional" racing village, the race is hosted at restaurants at Thesen Island so you don't get the normal racing village vibe, can't say it bothered me though.

Enjoy!

Hi Elaine I did it 2 years ago with a very unfit father and even worse was my brother. We had 3 days of fun. It's a great race to introduce yourself to stage racing.

Views of the Forrest were amazing and the single track is all manageable and also very enjoyable.

The race itself is also very well organised

I did the race with a friend a few years back too. I liked that we started almost at the trail head every day instead of a boring needless 10 to 15km "warm up" to get to the good stuff. It was very muddy that year, but this did not detract in the fun. The water points were excellent and the setup on Thesen Island worked well. It was cool to have the afternoons to spend with the family instead of being on the bike until 2 or 3 every day. It makes it more of a holiday for the family too.
