Broken spoke

So annoying - so decided to rebuild both wheels with my new rims. How do you determine the length of the spokes needed?

There is plenty of info on the interwebs, but essentially you'll need to measure up your hubs and measure your rims ERD (effective rim diameter). Plug those numbers into a spoke calculator (there are lots on the interwebs) and it'll calculate spoke length for you.

Sheldon Brown's site has some basic info to start.

My suggestion would be to replace the broken spoke and they two spokes on either side of it, as they are imediately overloaded when the spoke broke.

I have a set of Roval Controls (alu) and had the wheel repaired on four occasions only to suffer another broken spoke. Eventually changed all the spokes and now running up to 1000 km and no problems.

I have DT Swiss 445D rims and Shimano XT Hubs. I have been looking throughout all the interwebz this whole weekend but could not find any info on spoke length.

Can anyone out there please assist?
