Got my road bike out of storage Saturday.  Still have a 7 speed RSX system on it.

Now I am thinking of upgrading my gear system to a 8 - 10 speed system.

Do you think it is worth it to upgrade or should I keep to old school and see the disgust of they guys with their dura system that I can drop on hills?

It'll probably be cheaper to replace the whole bike than do the upgrade. But I'm sure you could have a lot of fun dropping people on their carbon wonder-bikes in the mean time. Evil%20Smile

I must confess that it has a carbon fork.

I will be able to drop about 25 gram on the bike by replacing the cable housing.  My brother took the shortcut way when he assembled the bike.

And I need to get a new rear wheel as well seeing that my Vector Pro broke its hub.

If it has a carbon fork and STI's it is hardly "old school" Cois - probably circa around 1999-2000 or so hey ?

IMHO no-one will really notice that you have 7spd.

Now an old  steel forked (the more "forked" the better LOL) frame with downtube shifters is another story completely !!!!

Sorry should hae said older school.

The frame is a 2006 Giant TCR something.

Gears are from a 1998 Giant Peleton.

All the carbon bits on the bike screams new school, but that is just for my back and hands.
