I've received a request from a NPO to see if I can assist with information on organizing a fundraising MTB race event....I race, I have never organized. What governing bodies do we need to get involved and why? If I want to organize a race on private land do I need the permission of some cycling body, maybe licensing the event? The other folks on the NPO board all have municipal contacts to assist with stuff like clean up, traffic control, first aid etc. Any advice would be appreciated.
