Hi Guys,

We have two South Africans in this race!

Rene Damseaux currently 3rd in the Masters and Francois Damseaux 20th in the open.

Seems like a super cool event. 2000m of decending in one day.

Love to do this somewhere in the future. ( Need to improve my skills and fitness exponentially.????)

The Hub should do a proper write up on this.

4000m descent on the first day ... We South Africans are doing Enduro all wrong ... hahaha

Someone should organize something like this in Lesotho!

A proper multi-day Enduro race. We might even get international participants and sponsors, especially if we do it around the same time as the Reunion Mega Avalanche.

I have already looked into it ... but the problem is logistics ... there is no facilities really in Lesotho (not in the high mountains anyway) ... Also at Andes Pacifico there is a lot of shuttling etc and in Lesotho some of the roads are just knackered ...

Also there is the legal side of things having to host the event in another country, so it would have to go through Lesotho tourism etc. Which isnt an issue, but just needs buy in from the Lesotho guys.

I have also looked at the timing systems they use there and we "currently" dont have that type of system at out disposal that can do timing with no power or cell signal etc. ....

Its do-able though - and I was supposed to go with DaveD and a couple of others to scout for more trails up there this weekend. But i cant go so would be keen to see what they come back with  .... Each stage I have mapped in the area we have identified is  700m vertical in 6km ... so its doable ...

Nigel, that is fantastic news! I just put the idea out there as a " that would be cool" type of statement. For you guys to actually be investing time in this: WOW!

Maybe we should do this! The entry fees might be a little high...

I took Renè out on one of our more tech trails when he was down in Cape Town on holiday. The guy could ride and was a really cool character just wanting to travel the world and ride his bike! Good luck dude!

Getting away from Lesotho:

Sabie is another diamond in the rough. It has proper elevation just outside of town, and we can use the logging roads to get to the top. Good medical facilities are nearby, as well as loads of accomodation.

All we have to do is deal with the locals, and our old friends Sappi...

Sabie had the BEST nationals back in the day - 1998 or so ... was an INSANE track ... so much potential there.

Pity the riding scene sort of caved .
