MTB - buying advice needed

I think it all depends on your budget. How much are you willing to pay. Also remember that in your budget you will need to include all the other gear that goes with it.

My wife and I started riding last year and I quickly came to realise that the gear can cost more than the bike. That's just bibs and shirts...

I would suggest going to a bike shop and try a few out. If you don't want to buy that's ok but at least get the feel of the bike.

Also to be honest 29 vs 27.5 is your personal preference. Unless you are wanting to enter competitive cycling take what feels comfortable for you. I find that the 29 is quite large and the turning circle also. With the 27.5 you can make sharper turns and feels much smaller.

We got a 27.5 for my wife and she loves it.

Good luck and trust me, after your first trail ride you will be addicted!
