Advice, Road Bikes

I hope you guys and gals can give some advice.  I am looking to buy our boys road bikes.  As I know with buying bikes,  you want the most bang for buck you can possibly get.  The thing is I know very little about road bikes and which components are good and which are terrible.  Also the boys are still growing (ages 13 & 11) so yes I want to get them something decent, but also not spend a fortune as I really don't want to have to replace a bike in a years time if they had to go through some crazy growth spurt.

 

I obviously realize that 2e hand bikes, may be a better option, but I am battling to see any in the 50cm if that is the range I should be looking at range in the Classifieds ??

 

Any advice would be really appreciated.

I would suggest that you check out Silverback bikes, even new they are not too expensive and you could possibly customize it for your boys's size with shorter/ longer stems etc. size 50cm bikes sells like hot cakes mostly, I would rather get a slightly cheaper new bike that fit properly for the boys and then see if they take to it.

Cool, they are still very young, no need to buy the latests carbon jobby, that is reserved for the MAMILS, hehehe, you can get a very decent Silverback with midrange groupset for not too much. Just endure you service the bikes often. Etc.
