Ebotse Country Club MTB Trail

Does anyone have any information on the Ebotse MTB Trail. Is it open to the public?

 

Free range MTB is getting increasingly difficult on the East Rand. The illegal miners are at war around the mine dumps and the tsotsies are lurking in the bushes around Benoni. Looks like we are going to have to ride planned secure tracks.

At the moment Benoni Country Club have a fantastic single track trail that has built up a regular following. It would be nice to combine  it with Ebotse and that nice climb up the tar road linking the two.

Never done it myself but I hear it is open. Another place to ride is lower part of the Emperors route, its about 5km long mainly twisty single track.

No its not open to the public.  You need to be a resident or with a resident to get in. They can also preregister you if they are not going to be ridding with you.  We were ridding with a resident but still got chew out by security and some nosey resident when we were ridding out as the resident went back to his place before seeing us out.

The trail is also not very well marked and we lost it many times.  It is pretty cool though and there is a nice pump section right at the top of the quarry.

I've never been stopped by security at Ebotse. Use the trail - nice to link it with BCC. The RTT section (Emperors route mentioned above) has a better flowing route than BCC, but just very short.
