RockShox SID Remote Lockout - PushLoc

I had a similar problem with my Revelation. I decided a service was due anyways so I opened it up. Turns out the spring inside the motion control came loose, thus not providing the proper springiness or retention of the cable. hooking up the spring again and putting the fork back together again properly has solved the problem for me.

But I agree 100% with the other guys here who got different remotes. The pushloc, even at its best, doesnt feel or work nearly as well as the other remotes. The pushloc works on the same principle your clicking pen does... During high school I disassembled my pen countless times to make it work better. I dont like a lockout remote that feels like a cheap clicky pen.

I'll take it to my LBS next week for them to check it out. Don't want to try and service it myself - just don't have the tech skills for it.

I had a 2012 Reba with a similar problem or something along those lines. Luckily it had a Poploc(the lever kind) and what would happen when you release it, the lever would release but the cable would not budge, thus the lockout stayed on and I could see that the cable was not releasing. Had it with Droo for a service and he advised me to get a new damper as the release mech of the damper was sticky, thus not pulling the cable along when it should. Against his advise I decided to open the damper. Funny thing is, when the pulley on top where the cable connects was disconnected from the damper via centre screw that holds it in, the damper would work. Soon as I screw the little pulley on top of the damper on, it got stuck and would not release.

So I removed the damper, let it drip dry and stripped the shaft out of the damper. Took a very fine file and filed the plastic part of the shaft where it would be in contact with the cap that screws into the fork leg. Had to file carefully to ensure the shaft stays round. Re-assembled and worked perfectly. Had to adjust the little disc at the bottom of the damper for the lockout though as it moves during the shaft removal, but it can just be turned with a bit of force.

This is quite a technical procedure and I would not advise it for someone with limited skills as you basically strip the whole damper and struggle to get the spring back.

I assume what happened is that the plastic swells up slightly from the oil over time and then the shaft of the damper gets stuck in the top cap that screws into the fork leg.

Sorted my fork out. Was so bloody simple.

Had a tinker with the lockout and realised there was slack in the cable when it was clamped. All I did was loosen the cable clamp, release the remote to the "locked out" position, pulled all the slack out of the cable and retightened the clamp bolt. The remote cable is now under tension and I have full travel on my fork for the first time.

Feels so gooood!

Will definitely be ordering a few of these then... probably a tenth of the price of the RS one too.

You don't maybe have any of these in stock? Something similar maybe? Will drop you a PM

For what it's worth, I got my Pushloc working again. Stripped and cleaned the unit and fitted a new cable. Still wasn't 100% functional after this, but after forcefully pushing and pulling on the lever a few times, I got it working again. Must have dislodged whatever it was that was keeping it from working as it should.

Saved me about R600, as I was going to buy a Poploc lever instead
