silkman Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 I'm new to cycling and have recently started looking at route profiles before a race. I usually just jump on the saddle and go.I struggled during Emperors when I wasn't expecting some climbs towards the end.I don't have a computer or other device on my bike- except a smartphone. Is there a way you can upload the route of the race to endomondo/strava and then when you ride during a race, it shows you where you are on the profile so you can see how many more climbs, distance etc?Hope I'm making sense. Thanks in advance people
Andymann Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 I'm not a smartphone expert so I don't know if there is perhaps an App, but if you had a Garmin, there are various sites where you can map the route, and then load it onto your Garmin as a course. If you then ride the "course" on the Garmin, you can set the screen to show the live profile. One of the areas where I prefer Garmin Connect to Strava, is if someone has loaded a Segment onto Garmin Connect, and that segment is part of the course you have plotted, when you hit it on the actual ride it actually counts down the distance to the end on the GPS - quite nice when you are hammering up a hill....
kinggrant Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 id say on strava kinda, it takes a little effort but does the job sorta well. You can manually create and upload a route and save it to your phone. It will overlay your gps position over the pre plotted route, but with no voice guidance or specs on hills etc. I would recommend it more for exploring rides than races, as it takes time to check it as I keep my phone in my pocket.I use strava so don't know about endomondoGood luck
TALUS Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Get the profile beforehand on the Hub. Print it. Look at it in bed. Make mental notes and pretend to be a Pro. It is fun. During the race you should only see the Red Mist.
