International Bike Transport Help

Hi there guys

I am heading to the LANZEROTE IM next month and am a little concerned about BIKE transport esp regarding connecting flights.

 

Is there a service provider that handles international bike transport?

Are there any guys out there that are frequent flyers with their bikes?

 

Whats cost am I looking at(ball park?

 

Any advise welcome

On your international flights (and connection if part of the main flight) your bike should be considered as sporting equipment and there should be no extra cost. Just make sure it is packed well, protect your front chain rings and also remove the back derailleur and hanger, it will be worth it to get a proper bike bag or alternatively a bike box from your LBS.

 

Some low cost local airlines might charge you for the bike. Check before the time, you can get all the info you need from the carriers ’websites.

Flew before with no hassles (connecting flight), estimate R2000 return for bike alone or some airlines you can carry it as part of "check-in" luggage.
