  1. Hey there maybe consider competing for a charity like the IM Smile foundation team. You get given kit and you get great support there in PE when you wear it. The quality was pretty good. Think they use the brand enjoy.
  2. Hey there G where are you feeling the pressure?. If you on the top end of the 2xu sizing range then how you apply it will make all the difference.
  3. 2 weeks left is it too soon to start talking about the weather ? https://weather.com/weather/tenday/l/Port+Elizabeth+South+Africa+SFXX0041:1:SF
  4. what are your thoughts on doing something like this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQOaJy-ToVc

  6. Would like to know who is using what nutrition wise on race day. I have spent a lot of my training sessions conditioning myself through fasting and am now looking to put together a decent nutrion plan that I hope will 'super boost' my performance I have done some research but would like to hear how you guys are tackling your nutrition plans or if any of you have or have made individual super juices. ps my NUMBER is 898.
  7. I had that once but was due to hitting something. Perhaps you should let the guys know what wheels you riding. Post a pic.
  8. Doing IM South Africa in April & then IM Lanzarote in May. it their 25th Year. If anyone is keen to do Lanzarote let me know;) I built my TT bike from ads on the Hub:)
  9. I don't really ride that much faster on a TT bike. BUT my run is 10 times better off the TT than a road bike. (It must be due to the geometry:)) On a full IM that makes all the difference:). I find IMHO that too often we only looking at the one part of the race and not how the product influences the rest. We use all this tech to make sure we get through it as efficiently as possible. So therefore I say get a TT bike (make sure its set up properly) and enjoy the sport you love
  10. Hi there I am Terry The best course of action is to rent the first time. I convert the rental after event day if you decide to buy, You will have a little over three weeks now to get the suit get into the water and get to know the wetsuit. By race day you ready to rock n roll. After the event you get to tell me the war story and make the decision to return or purchase. You either buy the rental or purchase new or demo which ever suits your needs. terry@xterrawetsuits.co.za 0794824658.

  14. Hi there Snytjie as requested this is just my view and I hope it helps. First off there is no doubt your swim abilities are better than when you first started. Not only are you a stronger swimmer but confident, Confidence is a key factor because if you were nervous or weaker this would effect your body position negatively resulting in slower times. You would also only be focussing on buoyancy as a result. The natural solution for our improvement is to find a swim coach for stroke correction and build strength. One of the tools we use to ensure we are developing our open water swim is a wetsuit. Wetsuit selection should be based on where you are at in terms of development, body shape and events you doing or planning on doing etc. (Ie there isn't really a need to go buy the top of the range if you only going to do 1 sprint distance race a year.) In your particular case you have evolved as a swimmer and as such you are questioning the finer details of suit technology. This means you are no longer just focussed on buoyancy, but rather looking to be as efficient as possible. Therefor an entry level wetsuit may not complement you anymore. As an intermediate to advanced swimmer doing long IM distance swims you would benefit from the added technology in a more advanced suit. Wetsuits perform a function much like aero bikes with deep section wheels, proper race distance specific road shoes and aero helmets. All these thing contribute to the BIG picture. Reducing resistance saving calories to finish strong and in good time. There is nothing wrong with using an entry level suit with less technology. It will get you to T1 comfortably no problem. Swimming in a mid range or top end suit however will just have you there just that little more comfortably.
  15. Hi there Grant we send suits all over SA for people to try. I will be in PE and at the IM the expo from Wednesday. You are welcome to come collect a suit and have a swim. POP me an email with your height n weight and we will set something aside for you. We will also have Casco helmets at the stand so there will be expo combo specials on as well.
