Indoor Trainer for MTB

I know there are several threads about trainers and have read through them, but haven't gotten really any smarter.

I am planning to buy a trainer - not to spend less time outside on my bike - rather to be able put a couple more hours in indoors as well.

And I can imagine that riding an hour plus on one spot is not much fun etc., but with a toddler for whom I can't find a sitter that often it is probably my only option.

Which trainers can be used with an MTB as well? My budget is max 6000. What should i look out for? Which type of trainers are the least noisy? Will it feel realistic to ride on a trainer?

My kids used to go to sleep pretty quickly to the sound of a trainer.... 2 birds with 1 stone so to speak - luckily past that phase now.

26 or 29er - thru axel of QR?

My budget is max 6000. What should i look out for? One that can take your bike - plenty of good trainers around - secondhand may be a good option - Tacx and Cyclops are both good - I have one of each.

It's not so much the trainer as the tire you use - knobblies are without a doubt super loud...

Will it feel realistic to ride on a trainer? - in some ways... the more expensive trainers have virtual reality and on-line racing options, and power measuring options - which may or may not work for you.

Thanks for the info. I have a 29er with thru axle. Will definity try to get a separate wheel with slick on for the trainer.

Which Tacx and Cyclops models do you own?

Try the jetblack M1 Trainer (R3000). They have a hydrogel roller and will reduce noise as well as wear. For QR skewers
