Calling all triathletes opinion for a new race

It would be nice to have a unique event with a different distance (3km swim, 135km cycle and 30km run). 

 

Guys would use this as a stepping stone to full Ironman. Problem is September is a funny time for this (training wise). 

 

Your target market would be limited though. A half ironman distance pulls the numbers. I personally think the half ironman distance events have probably reached the capacity. If anything November may be a better date (but im not sure): 

 

January - Ironman 70.3 East London

Feb - Trirock cradle

Feb  - Buffeslpoort Ultra

March - Prestige Ultra

March - Midlands Ultra

March/April - Ironman SA

May - Sun City Ultra

August - Ironman 70.3 Durban

October - TriRock Durban

December - Midlands Ultra 

 

Olympic distance:

 

 

There is still a gap to have an Olympic distance event in the Feb to April season. 

 

Jan - Gauteng Champs

Aug - 5150 Bela Bela

November - 5150 Germiston

November - Gauteng North Provincial Champs

November  11 Global

 

Problem is not a lot of people will travel to Gariep for an Olympic.

Instead of a medal a nice branded jacket like the guys got at Rockman X tri - would be cool. 

No more Jackets - I have 7 sani jackets in my cupboard that I never wear
