Event Name: IRide Africa Wild Weekend - Cederberg
When: 28 August 2015 - 30 August 2015
Where: Sanddrif, Cederberg, Western Cape
Category: MTB

Ride incredible trails, become a better rider and learn how to fix your bike.

The basic idea behind these weekends is to have loads of fun, experience the beauty of our country and meet friends while improving your riding and learning how to service your bike through skills clinics.

Five scrumptuous meals will be cooked and prepared for you and the accommodation is cozy (ie clean and comfortable but with shared rooms).

We'll be riding technical trails and learning how to conquer the tricky sections so these weekends are definitely not for beginners! Guided rides will be split into groups (intermediate and advanced) to ensure you get the most from the riding.

Costs:

  • R 2299 (minimum 8, maximum 25)

Included:

*All prices are based on per person sharing.

We can supply bike hire, bike transfers and rider transfers at an extra cost.

Totally correct Beefy, it is aimed at intermediate to advanced riders but based on the same concept as my sister, Jo's weekends away. There'll be more in the future if there is suitable interest in these kinds of trips, so don't worry too much about it!

Really interested, when you say intermediate to advanced what do you mean / what can an advanced rider get from the skills course?

IMO I am a very good technical trail rider (obviously I think this as I am an arrogant Capricorn) . I have spent the last 16 years riding Tokai all the various single tracks, in cluding some of the DH tracks, also Jonkershoek, Tygerberg trails.

I guess what I am asking is will I benefit from the skills course?

Good question NixM! The areas we are visiting on these trips (Sanddrif and Eselfontein) have some of the most technical bits of trail I have seen in the country so are great places to push you above your comfort level.

I have been riding and racing around the country for 23 years or so and have been running skills clinics for 5 years so feel like I have a good understanding of how to break any bad habits and what most people need in terms of advice.

Basically put, I believe we can always learn something new (including me!)  and I think I could teach you how to be both faster and more confident on a bike (I am also a capricorn :).

That said, if you don't learn something from me, then I would gladly offer you the money back on a skills clinic!

For advanced riders, the skills are normally there but I focus on how to get faster and more confident riding on blind trails (that is where your faults really show up!)

Joh, now see, I have been riding a bike for 4 years already ^_^  (with basically a year off somewhere in there... hehehe) and I must say, this seems very tempting!!

(Maybe because I love that area of our country too.)

Off to go look at my calander....
